Large Crystal Square Deep Pressed & Cut Butter Dish
This is a wonderful butter dish but I do not know the maker. The pattern is deep pressed (pressed glass made to look like cut glass) with cut and polished bottom rim on the lid where it sits on the butter. An a cut and polished bottom with star on the base. It is thick, heavy lead crystal. The base is 7" square.
Deep Pressed & Cut glass was a cheaper alternative to cut glass as it didn't require such labor intensive work - yet it "looked like" cut glass and fools a lot of folks because of the few actual cuts made to it.  I believe it was sold more in the 40's & 50's until they quit most of the cut glass and just went straight to pressed glass in the late 50's.
Item is in Excellent Condition with no chips, nicks or cracks. It is both pressed and cut glass.  Please view the photos for a better description. I have other neat things listed.  Please view
